Shallotte, North Carolina was incorporated on March 6, 1899 and gets its name from the former “Charlotte” river. The town is commonly referred to as the “commercial hub” of Brunswick County. Shallotte can experience traffic in its commute because it links the big cities of Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. There is a bypass so much traffic is diverted.
